A web browser referred to as a browser is a software application for retrieving presenting and traversing information resources on the world wide web . An information resources is identified by a uniform Resource Identifier that may be a web page , image , video or other piece of content . hyperlink present in resources enable user easily to navigate their browser to related resources .

Although browser are primarily intended to use the world wide web , they can used to access information provided by web server in private network or file system .
