Ø Introduction To Internet – the internet is a global collection of high-powered computers that are connected to each other with network cables , Telephone cables , microwave dishes , satellites , and every other kind of electronic wizardry currently available . Think of it as an enormous phone system for computer.
As  awesome as all this sound  , it really doesn’t mean , until you look at what these inter-connected computers can do for you . Each computer on the internet Stores resources , including document , sound and video clips , program files , electronic shopping  centre s , animation , Pictures , interactive content and anything else that can be stored and presented electronically . 
1.  E-mail – The internet enable us to exchange messages throughout the world with people – friend , colleagues , relatives and even stranger we happen to meet on the internet . E-mail is an exciting feature of the internet as we can send and receive messages over long distances also . On top of that , it is quite Fast easy and inexpensive as well .
2. Information – Any information on any subject can be obtained easily on the internet. We can have a good browse at newspapers , magazines , academic papers , government document , famous speeches , recipes , work by literary figures and what not .
3. Programs – The internet offers thousands of free programs are Word processors , spreadsheets and Game .
4. Discussion Groups – We can meet people whit similar tastes and preferences as ours . Questions can be asked , problems discussed and interesting stories read . The internet offers thousands of discussion groups on version subjects . The subjects may include environment , food , hum our , music, photography , politics , religion , sports , television and so on .
5. Modem – Modem is a device by which computers exchange information over telephone lines . The word – modem – is short for modulator / demodulator . If the modem is quicker , it will save time as well as money in future . The advantage of faster modems comes to light when files are transferred . These modems take less times and save money on long distances .
6. ISDN – Integrated services digital network is a line by which data is transmitted over digital telephone lines . ISDN is two to four times quicker than the speediest modems . Use of ISDN lines on the internet’s World –Wide Web help transmit or receive text , graphics , sounds and video.
7. Cable Modem – With a cable modem , you can connect to the internet using the same cable that is attached to a TV set . It transfers information at a speed of up to 3000 kbps .
8. DSL – DSL is digital subscriber line . This service is provided in many cities by which it transfers information varies between 1000 to 6000 kbps.
9. Internet service provider – An internet service provider offers access to the internet . These companies offer a certain amount of time on the internet for a set fee  For extra time you are charged extra money . Some of these companies offer unlimited access for a set fee .
10.             Commercial Online Service - Commercial Online Service companies offer access to service such as news , weather reports , encyclopedias etc. Popular commercial online service include Satyam Online and mantra online .
   These online services offer a certain time for a fee . For excess time you are charged extra money .
11.             University or company – Colleges and universities offer information regarding journals and software.
